LKQ Identified as Takeover Target: Morningstar subsidiary Footnoted has identified several companies likely to be acquired in the coming months.  According to Footnoted, one of the top takeover targets is auto parts manufacturer LKQ Corp. Enhancing the attractiveness of LKQ are its healthy cash flow and competitive market position, and recent news of a new CEO adds to the speculation.

Police Raid Targets Car Management Systems – QRP-Affiliated Company: A CAR MS-QRP member company is the target of a police raid involving stolen vehicles.  The Canadian company, A&L Auto Recyclers, is reportedly cooperating with police in the investigation, and neither the company nor any of its employees have been charged with a crime.

“We are conducting a search warrant, our command post is on scene, and we have several units assisting with the search,” said Essex County, Ontario OPP Const. Janet Hayes. “This is part of an ongoing investigation.”

Recycled Auto Parts Company Advertises During Super Bowl: While most Super Bowl ads are paid for and produced by big-name, big-budget companies, Country Line Auto Parts is proving that smaller businesses can also benefit from advertising during the popular sporting event.  The rural Missouri-based auto parts company says it has seen a huge jump in business since running the ad, which it hoped would show the professional side of buying salvaged auto parts.

“We want people to be able to visually see our facility and feel comfortable coming here,” said company representative Krystyn Roberts. “It isn’t a junkyard. Women, professionals, anybody can come here and get a good alternative part.”

Salvaged Car Auction Company Moving to Texas: Copart, USA, a successful online auction company for salvaged automobiles, will be moving its headquarters from Fairfield, California to Dallas, Texas.  The company employs 334 people in Fairfield, and will be maintaining some administrative positions in the area. Copart hopes that the move will allow them to better connect with their customer base.

“Diversifying our office locations allows Copart to be closer geographically to our customers and clients, resulting in greater operational efficiencies and improved customer service,” said Vinnie Mitz, president of Copart.

Salvage Company Owner Featured on Cover of Canadian Auto Recyclers Magazine: Ed MacDonald reports being very excited and “humbled” by making the cover of the popular auto recycling industry magazine, Canadian Auto Recycler.  MacDonald’s company Maritime Auto Salvage in Glenholme, Canada has been in business for several decades, but MacDonald’s involvement in the industry has helped shine the spotlight on how essential auto parts recycling is becoming.

 

“My enthusiasm for the business individually is still as strong and vibrant,” he said. “My enthusiasm for auto recycling, not only nationally but worldwide, has gone up. I really do feel that we are now becoming, if you will, a necessity rather than an outside party.”
