Firefighters Battle Blaze at Parts U Pull In Charlotte, NC
Firefighters were called to Parts U Pull on Sunday, October 6, at about ten in the evening. The large number of burning tires made the fire extremely difficult to knock down according to local news reports. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set. Pull-A-Part Acquires Second Self Service Yard in TX by Buying Mega U Pull’s El Paso Yard
Atlanta based Pull-A-Part now has 26 self-service yards across the Southeastern U.S. and its second location in Texas, the other, a yard in Brownsville. Pull-A-Part CEO Ross Kogan notes that the buy of Mega U Pull in El Paso, TX “supports the Pull-A-Part strategy of acquiring outstanding existing operations or selectively developing greenfield locations across the country.” More on the Pull a Part story in Recycling Today.
Newton IA Worker Killed in Salvage Yard Accident
Thad W. Hummel, 42, was killed on October 3 when a repair he was making on a boom truck at Car County Auto Salvage in Jasper County, IA, went horribly wrong. The trucks mechanical arm collapsed and crushed him. He was transported to Skiff Medical Center and died a short time later. Condolences to his friends and family.
