Bill to Tighten Rules on Sellers of Salvage Vehicles Pass DE Senate Can Buy
Just this week, a bill to tighten the requirements on sellers of salvage vehicles passed the Delaware Sentate. The bill is designed to make it more difficult for criminals but will place additional burdens on salvage dealers in the state. Senate majority leader David McBride says the bill is part of an effort to to “stop criminals from financing their efforts through second hand dealers and operators of scrap and auto salvage yards.” For more on this bill, read the full story on the salvage yard reporting bill.

Orange County TX Gerald LeLeux Builds Rat Rod with Help from I-10 Auto Salvage
LeLeux is a retired postal worker and confirmed car guy. His classmates pegged him as mechanic by eighth grade. Yeah, I know the feeling. He built this “rat rod” once piece at a time, starting with an El Camino Chassis and some sheet metal. Hat tip to The Record in Orange County, TX, for this car guy story.
Fire at American Auto Salvage in Detroit Still Unexplained
A fire at a vehicle salvage yard located at 8951 Alpine on Detroit’s West Side created a plume of smoke visible for miles. The fire was brought under control by the early afternoon. The GM at American Auto Salvage was unsure of the cause of the fire by indicated that a battery could have sparked and caught a car on fire. Read the full story of this salvage yard fire at MLive.
