FTC Closes Comment Period on Consent Order Forces Solera to Divest Actual Systems
The notice of the proposed settlement has been published in the federal register. The 30-day comment period just closed, but the analysis of the settlement is still worth a read for anyone who is using Pinnacle. Here is a PDF of the Federal Trade Commission’s proposed consent order.

USAA Admits Some Cars Totaled in Superstorm Sandy Were Sold Without Salvage Titles
USAA’s issues where the subject of an ABC news story about a flood damaged truck that the insurer totaled and sold for parts without a salvage title. The truck ended up on a used car lot. USAA totaled more than 4,000 vehicles as a result of Sandy, but the issues are with 174 vehicles that belonged to policyholders in New Jersey, according to a story on my San Antonio about the salvage vehicles on the road.
Milford Auto & Truck Parts in Chicago Hit with 20K Civil Penalty
As part of a consent order entered in Iroquois County Circuit Court in Illinois, Milford Auto & Truck Parts must pay $20,750 and transfer thousands of used tires and automotive waste to a facility with a permit to dispose of the tires and waste. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan said, “The company was violating state laws that ensure public health and safety.” Pollution from runoff and West Nile risk were of particular concern to the state. The Illinois State Attorney had filed suit against the business in 2006 for similar violations and the state EPA began doing inspections of the business in 2010, according to a salvage yard news item in the Park Forest Community eNews.
Blaze Torches 300 Cars at Middleton, ID Based B & T Auto Salvage Yard
The fire at B &T was so large that smoke could be seen all the way to Boise, ID. Unfortunately, the owner does not have insurance according to a local news story. Best of luck to him and his employees in getting their business back on track. The only good news is that this fire was not as large as the one at his yard in 1996.
